So, I did the add ons to an existing hosting account. The add on I could test was active immediately after loading the files to the new host and resetting the name servers. It's own url showed in the address bar.

I'm saving 200.00 plus a year on the 2 add ons, and it was all very easy. It's taken 10 years of web work to learn that. Yeesh.

Hi All, or anyone,

It's hosting account renewal time again, and I want to make some changes.

LunarPages, now they charge extra for domain reg. Sounds like a foot shoot to me, and is prompting me to change.

Bluehost, so far nothing bad about them, and really late to the party I found out that I could add 2 other domains to my hosting account as sub domains.  The sales guy couldn't assure me that this would have no negative effects on the 2 added sites. (none of these sites are at all related except for their webmaster, me.)  A plus for Bluehost is that WordPress rates them #1 as a WordPress host.

Hostgator, still happy with them.

Finally, the question:  How do sub domains work when all 3 sites on the account are unrelated?  Will the sub-domain sites fair poorly with search engines because they are somehow connected to the parent?

Thanks,
Abby

Hi all!  Has anyone had any luck with a flash decompiler?  I need to make minor edits to a client's SWF, and the FLA is long gone.  I've seen a few software packages for this online, but I have no idea how well they really work.

Update:

After dumping the trash Categories my comments are showing up on the blog but I'm still being sent to an error page. So it's half fixed.

2nd Update:
Now it's not even half working, Darn!

I am not sure when the problem started to occur since I did not test the comments after the move, or before. My client was also moving her posts around when she was working on it. Changing pages to categories and categories to pages. Basically I think she cut and pasted that stuff. I emptied the trash for the pages and categories but that did not help.

No the update had nothing to do with the comment thing. It needed to be done. I had to manually update the version as it was about 2-3 years old and had no update button. (I inherited this website, it's a long story)

No .htaccess is in place. I just changed the permissions to 666 so that it could be written to by WP, then I reset the permalinks to default, got a blank page as usual after trying to send a comment [for the default setting] and then set it at another setting and I got the same error, "Posts Not Found Sorry, no posts matched your criteria".

My client just told me about this problem last Friday and I hadn't worked on it for about a week prior.

First, can we assume that the comment feature stopped working after the blog was moved and Wordpress was updated?

Second, can we assume that it broke after the move and the update was done after that, in an attempt to restore proper operation?  And that nothing else changed after the update?

(Third, I have only a little WP dirt under my nails, so will the real Wordpress experts please stand up.)

Anyway, just a wild guess - permalinks involve using an .htaccess file (not always visible in FTP progs) - did that get moved with everything else?

Getting "Posts Not Found Sorry, no posts matched your criteria" when you try to post a comment. Also the Comment section in the Dashboard shows no comments at all even though Akistmet claims to have filtered about 20 posts. This blog was moved recently from a sub directory to the root folder. I used the "Velvet Blues Update URLs" plugin and that appeared to change all the URLS rather nicely. (Then deactivated it) No broken links or images. It has also been upgraded to the latest version.  (This is my client's blog)

I have tried re-setting the permalinks. When I go back to the default I just get a blank page when I submit a comment. Permalinks are confusing to me as they can be set one way in the Permalink section (Admin) and another way in the Edit Page section. If these do not match exactly what happens?

Other Plugins in use:
Akismet
Contact Form 7
Google Analytics for WordPress
Page Links To
WordPress Database Backup

(I have deactivated all of the above and re-tested with no improvement.)

I have this question posted on wordpress.org, twice, and I'm getting no response.

Thanks,
Sue

This is only a wild stab, but I think you could do it by treating the regions as remote rollover areas of a list that does not display.

Let us know the final solution.

According to http://htmlhelp.com/reference/html40/special/map.html an image map can only be used on an IMG, OBJECT or INPUT element.

A possible workaround might be to put a transparent GIF of the same size in front of that background image and reference the map to that instead.

Does anyone know how to get an image map to work when the image is referred to in the CSS in a div tag in the html?

In other words, I have a banner that is an image. I want part of that banner to have a link.

The banner is in the HTML in a DIV tag in an id=, referring to the CSS.

In the CSS, the banner id contains: background-image: url(../images/Banner.jpg);

Is there something to add to the CSS that describes the banner id?

I have the imagemap coords (usemap) ready to go in the HTML but don't know where to put the reference to the usemap to make it work.

I have searched for this trick and many of the posts are years old, very convoluted and bring several other elements into it.

Thanks for any help.

Janet
